    • Jeanie died Sunday, January 18, 2009 in Lubbock. She was born on April 2, 1937 in Garza County to Elvie and Myrtle Peel. She was raised in the Graham Chapel Community west of Post where she attended grade school. She graduated from Post High School in 1955. She married Jimmy Byrd on August 26, 1955 in Post. They lived in Kent and Garza Counties for most of their lives. They had two daughters and one son.

      Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Ann Peel; and a nephew, Kam Huntley.

      She is survived by her husband, Jimmy of Post; two daughters, D'Lynn Williams and husband Richard of Lubbock, and Keliss Byrd of Lubbock; one son, Shawn Byrd of Lubbock; three grandsons, Brody and Riley Williams, and Cody Byrd, all of Lubbock; one granddaughter, Shay Byrd of Lubbock; two sisters, Rhea James and husband Johnny of Plainview, Beth Hooten and husband David of Lubbock; one aunt, Mae Hedrick of Lubbock; four nephews and one niece.
