    • FOWLER ? Marvin J. Ockenfels Jr., 84, went home to be with the Lord at 11:39 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at Lake Vista Nursing Home after an extended illness.

      He was born April 14, 1929, in Detroit, the son of the late Marvin J. and Anna Castor Ockenfels Sr.

      Marvin was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His main focus was at home with his family and friends. He was a proud owner of his business, Red Barn Ceramics, in Vienna, from 1972 to 2006. Marvin took great pride in working on the farm, enjoying time on his tractor and his vegetable garden. In his spare time he loved teaching his family the gifts of life. He was a great chef at preparing meals, as well as Christmas dinners for the family, of which he was very proud.

      Survivors include his wife, the former Anna Mae Harrison, whom he married July 14, 1951; two sons, Michael (Andrea) Ockenfels of Fowler and Darrell (Sharon) Ockenfels of Vienna; two grandchildren, Curtis (Lena) Ockenfels and Sara Ockenfels, both of Vienna; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Ockenfels of Vienna.

      Other than his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

      Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Vienna Presbyterian Church, where family and friends may visit from 5 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Judi Bender will celebrate Marvin?s life.

      Burial will be at a later date in Dugan Cemetery.

      Funeral services have beenentrusted to the care of the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, in Cortland.
