    • On August 2, 2016, William O. Lynerd Sr. passed away peacefully in Fayetteville, NC. He was 93. Bill was born on July 24, 1923 to Orville and Myrtle Green Lynerd.

      He was a great husband and father and will be greatly missed by his children: Bobbie Calloway of Salisbury, MD, William Jr. (Betty Ann) of Chicago, IL, Ed (Pat) of Rock Hall, MD, Dave (Char) of Conowingo, MD, and Ken (Mindy) of Cary, NC. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and one brother, Bob (Betty) of Waynesboro, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Emily Strobel Lynerd in 1995.

      Bill served his country in the Navy for 22 years, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer, and also as a pipe-fitter at Chrysler Corp. He was a fine craftsman, could fix just about anything, loved to sing, play horseshoes and cribbage. He was a long time member of Rosebank UMC in Calvert, MD, until he and Emily moved to Lake Gaston, NC, in 1983, where they joined Olive Branch UMC in Gasburg, VA.
