    • Major league baseball player. Pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1941. Was later president of the Eastern Baseball League (Minor League) from 1960-1968. Enlisted in the US Navy December 18, 1941. His father (Adam Rankin, Sr.) was also a professional baseball player from 1914 to 1918 and later managed the Harrisburg (PA) Senators. His grandfather (Adam Rankin) was a Confederate General. He organized the 10th Kentucky Partisan Rangers.
